Determinants of participation in extracurricular activities among higher education students in Morocco: using the Logit Model

L’importance des activités extracurriculaires dans la vie étudiante est largement reconnue. Bien que, des efforts ont été déployés pour introduire ces activités dans les universités marocaines, les taux de participation restent modestes.
Dans ce contexte, la présente étude se propose d’identifier les facteurs qui influencent la participation aux activités extracurriculaires des étudiants de l’enseignements supérieur au Maroc. Elle s’inscrit dans une approche quantitative adoptant une démarche hypothético-déductive. Une enquête par questionnaire a été menée auprès de 807 étudiants appartenant à quatre facultés de l’université cadi Ayad de Marrakech. étant donnée la nature des variables, le test de khi deux et la régression logistique binaire ont été appliqués pour l’analyse de données.
Les principaux résultats indiquent que la participation aux activités extracurriculaires tout type confondu est tributaire du niveau d’étude, des caractéristiques de personnalité et de l’éducation des parents. S’agissant des activités sportives, la participation dépende du sexe, du niveau d’étude et du type d’établissement. Pour ce qui est l’implication dans les activités non sportives, elle est surtout influencée par les caractéristiques de la personnalité et du type d’établissement.
