A quality educational project serving the Moroccan education system: What challenges?

Educational stakeholders almost unanimously agree that, despite the structural reforms undertaken, the Moroccan education system continues to exhibit serious shortcomings that negatively impact its performance. It is therefore urgent that government authorities responsible for education undertake reforms capable of rectifying the situation and putting the Moroccan education system back on track. Recently, the Ministry of Education launched a reform based on the implementation of an educational project in partnership with the U.S. government, specifically the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). This project, called the Attahadi High School Model (MLA), aimed to provide the Moroccan education system with significant added value and revolutionize educational offerings in Morocco.
In this article, we aim to provide a comprehensive description of the MLA project, highlighting certain technical and operational details related to its fundamental objectives concerning the teaching profession and the administrative management of schools. We complement our study of this project with a preliminary assessment of its results, which remain, however, preliminary as the project is still in a transitional phase. In conclusion, we suggest some ideas for scaling up and disseminating the MLA project, ensuring that all regional education authorities benefit equitably.
